ALL STUDENT SERVICES
Fall 2024: End of Semester Services (Increased Drop-in Hours) Will Begin the Week of Nov. 11th
Overview: CMHC offers goal-directed counseling, which begins with completing an initial triage/intake session with a therapist on our Triage & Crisis team. This Triage & Crisis team, combined with our specialized programs, results in an average wait time to get connected with a therapist being about one week, depending on the student’s availability/schedule (The national average ranges 2-6 weeks).
End of Semester Services are utilized for students who contact us just before the end of the semester to initiate standard counseling. End of Semester Services include drop-in appointments, which focus on supportive therapy. This avoids students having to complete a triage/intake session, leave campus during Winter Break, and then have to redo the triage/intake in the Spring because it’s been over a month between sessions.
Students who contact us during the week of Nov 11th to initiate standard counseling would typically be scheduled during the week of the Nov 18th. However, the week after that is Thanksgiving Break, and the week after that is Study Days, which is when CMHC usually begins End of Semester Services. Thus, we are starting End of Semester services during the week of Nov. 11th.
The front office will direct students to present to the center Monday – Friday from 9AM – 4PM. After the initial drop-in session, students can schedule follow-up sessions with the same staff therapists until the semester ends. However, these sessions will focus on providing immediate short-term support. CMHC will resume our standard goal-directed counseling once students return to campus in the Spring.
End of Semester Services ONLY apply to students who contact us during the week of Nov. 11th to initiate standard counseling. Students who are already working with a therapist or have a pending scheduled appointment will continue services as planned. As always, our crisis services will stay the same, and students can call our 24/7 phone counseling helpline at 817-257-7233 (even during semester breaks). For questions or comments, please email the center’s director, Dr. Eric Wood, at e.c.wood@tcu.edu.
